Rhyannon L. O’Heron

Barrister & Solicitor

Rhyannon O’Heron is a multifaceted family law practitioner specializing in collaborative law, mediation/negotiation, and litigation. She is a skilled litigator having successfully represented clients at all three levels of court (Provincial, Court of King’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal).

She specializes in assisting clients in resolving issues that arise in both relationship and family planning (cohabitation and prenuptial agreements, assisted reproduction agreements, and uncontested adoption) as well as relationship and family breakdown (separation agreements, divorce, parenting, child and spousal support, family property division, and restraining orders). Rhyannon welcomes all clients and represents a diverse client base.

Rhyannon obtained her master’s in social work (MSW) prior to pursuing her law degree. She worked as a Clinical Social Worker for a number of years providing psychotherapy, family mediation, and crisis intervention services to survivors of sexual violence, children, and families.

Rhyannon obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alberta. During law school she worked for Student Legal Services and the Alberta Government, in both the Legislative Reform Office and the Edmonton Crown Prosecutor’s Office. She articled to the chief justice of the Nunavut Court of Justice and the Edmonton Community Legal Centre. She was called to the bar and joined the firm, then Gordon Zwaenepoel (now Bruyer & Mackay), in 2014 and became a partner in 2020.

Rhyannon is a volunteer with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and has instructed for the Legal Education Society of Alberta. She is a board member of the Association of Collaborative Family Professionals (Edmonton) and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (Alberta Chapter). Rhyannon is also a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association.
